Founder, Building Blocks

After graduating from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts with a Merit in Economics & Statistics; as well as a Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Economics, K-Lin started off her career with an investment bank. Despite her success in the industry, K-Lin left to pursue her true passions of teaching and Economics.
After obtaining a Post-Graduate Diploma from NIE with a Merit, K-Lin lectured in Economics at a Junior College. During this time, she understood the struggles and difficulties that students faced in the study of Economics and developed solutions and methods to help her students excel in Economics. These solutions and methods form the core of Building Blocks Learning Systems which was founded in 2002 to instill economic literacy and academic excellence to Junior College students.
K-Lin is also a certified trainer in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and this cutting edge brain-based technology is infused into every single lesson designed and delivered at Building Blocks – not only to aid learning and retention but also to help students clear their mental and motivational blocks.
Thousands of students have benefitted from the Economics programs delivered at Building Blocks and K-Lin is the proud recipient of the "2011 Successful Entrepreneur" award in recognition for her outstanding performance in the various standards.

Principal Lecturer & Program Director

Armed with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Merit in Economics, a Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Economics from the National University of Singapore, and a Diploma in Education with Merit from the National Institute of Education; Dennis embarked on his teaching career back in his alma mater. Throughout his many years in service, Dennis first served as a teacher, moving on to being Subject Head (Economics), and eventually Acting Head of Department (Economics).
Like K-Lin, Dennis has a passion for teaching and economics that goes back to his undergrad years at NUS where he tutored in his available free time. It was through the interactions with his students and the sense of achievement he gathered when they did well in their examinations that made him realize that teaching would give him the fulfillment and satisfaction that he wanted in his career path.
As the Principal Lecturer & Program Director of Building Blocks, Dennis has a simple approach to teaching Economics - which is not just to teach the subject, but also to make it relevant to everyday life. Economics is a life skill and that is how Dennis wants his students to view the subject – this is made very apparent from the design and delivery of the various programs at Building Blocks. Apart from developing the programs and teaching the concepts required for the syllabus, he constantly garnishes his lessons with events from the real world, as well as relevant personal anecdotes, which he has no lack of.
Dennis instills the passion for Economics in his students by subscribing to a simple motto …Inspiring Learning through Relevance…
